CONSERVATION COMMISSION

The Conservation Commission advises the City on the use, development and conservation of natural resources and open space throughout the City. The Commission also acts as the Inland Wetland Agency, a regulatory land use board that decides on permit applications for work in and adjacent to inland (non-tidal) wetlands and watercourses.

Organizational Oversight
The Conservation Commission is responsible for maintaining an inventory of natural resources throughout the city. We oversee two important environmental agencies for the City of Norwalk: the Inland Wetland Agency and the Aquifer Protection Agency.

Protecting Our Natural Resources
The Conservation Commission, Inland Wetland Agency, and the Aquifer Protection Agency are all comprised of the following board members. All members are appointed by the mayor with the approval of the Common Council.
